immigrants to the United States. A survey of Salvadoran history is also
presented, from its inception as Cuscatlán to its battle for
independence to its turbulent history as a coffee republic. Le Matanza,
the Soccer War with Honduras, and the Civil War are included. The book
also highlights the unique contributions to American life that El
Salvadorans have made and the uncertain future they face until their
immigration status is clarified by the government.
