Explorer Middle School
Phoenix, Arizona

Hello, 7th and 8th graders!

You were great listeners and excellent questioners!

We didn't have a lot of time together but you saw (and heard about) many things from mummies and bog bodies to (in two presentations) castles. I spoke about how my writing ideas originate (from my childhood all the way to now)--and how yours can, too. Don't be afraid to make writing mistakes! That's how you learn to be a better writer. And remember to have fun when you write, too. That's an important part of writing that many people ignore. Finally, a special thanks to your librarian, Ms. Wong, who planned a great day for me at Explorer and all the other schools I visited in Phoenix.

Explorer librarian, Ms. Wong
