photos.ks.gardencity.dancers.jpg (41293 bytes)Hello, Garden City!  I visited your city for the second annual Literacy Carousel. It was an exciting day with a big schedule of events. By the end of the day over 1,500 students had attended and received a free book or two.

photos.ks.gardencity.actor.jpg (29314 bytes)There were break dancers and folklorico dancers and Latin Heat dancers (from Garden City Community College) appearing at different points as well as puppet shows and performances by Shakespearean actors and even a Mountain Man! photos.ks.gardencity.game.jpg (25313 bytes)There were three authors: Vivian Sathre, Jillian Lund, and James M. Deem--and lots of reading games and activities and storytelling and read-alouds... all at the 3-I building at the nearby Finney County fairgrounds. Everyone had a great time, and the morning passed too quickly.

I appeared on the Unicorn Stage and talked about researching Bodies from the Bog I showed some bog body slides as well.

I want to thank Dr. Leticia Porter of the Garden City Schools and Barbara Larson of the Garden City Community College for inviting me to participate in this wonderful event. And I especially want to thank teacher John West for being my chauffeur that weekend.

If you want to say hi or ask a question, you can e-mail me here.
