I spoke to the eighth
grade about my book, Auschwitz: Voices from the Death Camp as
part of their unit on the Holocaust. The book contains the stories of
ten people who were at Auschwitz. I told you about the history of the
camp and about the terrible acts committed there.
I
also talked about my book Bodies from
the Ash: Life and Death in Ancient Pompeii and gave a
PowerPoint presentation about the mummies of Ancient Egypt--all 3,000
years of them, including some very interesting and quite unusual
animal mummies. I
spoke to fifth graders about my beginnings as a writer.
It
was a great day!
